The contracts affecting our members at TA, OA and MTA Bus are winding their way through the arbitration process to a definite conclusion binding on all parties.
All hearings pertaining to the MTA Bus contract covering 2006 to 2009 are finished. Post hearing briefs are due by May 28. A binding decision is expected shortly thereafter.
The hearings on TA, OA and MTA Bus covering 2009 onwards are half-way finished and will be done in a few weeks.
Many factors in the current situation made arbitration a reasonable option, including the current economic environment, as well as and the political meddling by forces trying to stop us from getting a contract in order to punish Local 100 for our 2005 strike. Some will always bury their heads in the sand and say that the real world doesn’t matter.
Local 100 will take on the tough challenges and, in the end, justice will prevail.
