Raises and pension improvements to come
“without unreasonable delay”
Finally, it’s done! We apologize for the long delay, thank you for your patience and salute your dedication. Finally, you have a contract with what we promised and what you deserve.
Raises
Very soon, you will get the following raises:
-- 3% 4/1/2006
-- 4% 4/1/2007
-- 3.5% 4/1/2008
These raises are all compounded and retroactive.
Parity
All employees at all five Local 100 MTA Bus properties -- Yonkers, Eastchester, College Point, LaGuardia and Baisley Park -- will receive parity with comparative titles at TA / OA going forward.
Work rules
There are several work rule changes contained in the award. These changes had previously been reviewed by your officers for approval in order to get the greater gains we needed to accomplish. All of these changes will standardize work rules to practices at the TA/OA or move them in that direction. They will require changes in how we do business.
Pension
But guess what? Your pension is NOW $105 per year with age 57 retirement, unreduced benefit. This increase applies to all current MTA Bus employees and everyone who retired since the MTA takeover. That represents a 27% increase in your pension, unprecedented in these times!
On top of which, former employees of the former Queens, Triboro and Jamaica companies who retired after the August 2002 strike, will receive the $105 benefit! We delivered for our soldiers!
And, on top of that, retirees from the former Queens, Triboro and Jamaica companies who went out before August 2002 and New York Bus retirees who went out before July 2005 will receive a 5% COLA. (This does not apply to Yonkers, whose pre-takeover retirees are part of the Liberty Company pension plan).
We are Union
We are Union! Your patience and sacrifice has paid off. Local 100 has delivered. We now move on to accomplish the next phase and challenges. Remember the winning formula is “We are Union!”
