NYCT President Tom Prendergast Responds to Local 100's Call for Reduced Speeds Entering Stations to Prevent Fatalities

NYCT President Thomas Prendergast, in a letter dated Jan. 17, 2013, has agreed with TWU's position that measures must be taken to improve public safety and prevent 12-9s, but he disagrees with our methodology.

He maintains in his letter that: "employees are expected to operate with caution and strictly adhere to NYCT rules and regulations governing compliance with the allowable speed entering a station."

TWU Local 100 stands by its call for caution entering stations, and holds that our advice to Train Operators does not contradict NYCT rules and regulations.
