The Parsons/Archer stop at Jamaica Center on the E, Z, and J lines is known to transit workers as one of the worst in the system when it comes to rat infestation – and on Wednesday morning we let the world know about it. Riders eagerly took 2,000 flyers (we should have made five times as many) and 600 riders signed petitions calling on the MTA to put resources into fighting back against the increasing rodent population. 1010 WINS reporter Steve Sandberg went down into the station after talking to riders and found rats on the platforms and tracks, and filed a report which aired in drive time and throughout the day Wednesay. This is just the opening salvo in a campaign to force the MTA to take the rat problem seriously – and commit the personnel and resources necessary to fix it. Enough is enough!
