UPDATE: Arrangements Announced for Stations Division Vice Chair Jose Torres

Local 100 is sad to report that Stations Division’s beloved Vice Chair for Supply Logistics, Jose Torres, passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack July 15. He was only 56 years old.

Stations Vice President Lynwood Whichard broke the heartbreaking news to staff and fellow officers this morning, calling Jose a “champion” for the cause of labor, adding that he is “too devastated to talk right now.”

Local 100 President Tony Utano expressed his heartfelt sympathy to Jose’s family, friends and colleagues saying:

“This is a very sad day at Local 100. Jose was a wonderful person who fought hard for his members while always maintaining a high degree of professionalism and good will. Everyone at the union hall liked him and respected him. He will be deeply missed. I know that we, as his brothers and sisters, will stand strong for his wife, Maritza, and the rest of his family during this trying time.”
