Dozens of members pack Bronx courtroom in support of sister conductor who was slashed
“Don’t play the game of ‘he’s crazy’. He’s not competent to stand trial, but he was competent when he was committing these crimes,” said Tramell Thompson, VP of Rapid Transit Operations.
A 730 exam was ordered to determine if the alleged slasher is mentally fit to face trial while he was remanded without bail by Judge George Villegas.
Tramell Thompson said the members that came out for the Conductor were like a “shoulder to lean on”.
“She’s holding up the best she can,” said Tramell Thompson. “Every day she wakes up, she’s going to be reminded of that incident.”
The conductor suffered two cuts to the face, requiring eight stitches.
“This MTA conductor was doing her job, which is ensuring the safety of passengers, when she was allegedly attacked by the defendant in a random, unprovoked incident,” said Bronx District Attorney Darcel Clark Wednesday.” This was unconscionable. Anyone who assaults a transit worker will be held accountable.”
Isaiah Thompson’s next court date in this case is August 21.
