As a union that represents workers in the transit industry, TWU Local 100 is committed to supporting the education and future success of its members and their families. TWU Local 100 offers two scholarships - the M3 Technology Scholarship and the Michael J. Quill Scholarship - providing opportunities for eligible members and their children or grandchildren to win financial assistance for their attendance at an accredited college. These scholarships aim to recognize and reward the dedication and commitment of TWU Local 100 members and their families. M3 Scholarship Application
The TWU Local 100 & M3 Technology Scholarships, established by your leadership for the first time ever in 2010, are awarded by your union each year.
Fill out the application to apply for the 2024 Scholarship.The deadline for this application is May 31, 2024. These are one year scholarships. TWU Local 100 members/retirees in good standing may submit one application each year for each student. Households with two TWU Local 100 members/retirees, may submit two applications per student each year. Applicants for the TWU Local 100 Scholarships must be the member, spouse, children or grandchildren of TWU Local 100 members or TWU Local 100 Retiree members in good standing and must be attending or accepted by an accredited two or four year college.
$150,000 or more in scholarships will be awarded at random to qualified applicants. In order to qualify for a bonus scholarship, you must be a full-time student. Winners will be announced in the Transport Workers Bulletin and will be invited to attend our annual scholarship reception accompanied by their spouse, parents, grandparents or guest. These scholarships are sponsored by M3 Technology, our Guaranteed Acceptance Voluntary Benefit Administrator.
The Michael J. Quill Scholarship
The union has been honoring our founder with these scholarships since 1969. Quill Scholarship awards have benefited hundreds of TWU families. Children of our members in transit, railroad and air transportation, utilities, public employment, space installations, and allied industries are among those who began their college educations with the help of the TWU’s signature scholarship.
The 2024 Michael J. Quill Scholarship Fund offers fifteen (15) children who are current high school seniors of TWU members a scholarship worth $4,800.00. This scholarship will be paid out, each year in the amount of $1,200.00 to winners who continue to be eligible over their four (4) year course.
