Bobby Mallon, Retired IND Signals Chair, Has Died
Bobby Mallon, the retired Chair of the IND Signal’s Section, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. He was 63 and had been retired from Transit for two years. Brother Mallon was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had worked for Pan American World Airways prior to joining New York City Transit.
He served as the elected vice chair and chair of the IND Signals section for 15 years. He had also been chair of the IND Signals Retirement Club. Signals Chair Duvet Williams said: “Bobby was always very cheerful, and was a great advocate for the workers. Our hearts go out to his family, friends and coworkers from the Signals Department.”
John V. Chiarello, Vice President of Maintenance of Way, said, "Bobby was good union man who always lived by Mike Quill's principles -- he dedicated time and energy to supporting the cause."
He is survived by his son, Shaun, daughter, Ashley, and three grandchildren.
