Gary Rosario Sworn In as New TA Surface VP

SEPTEMBER 18—Gary Rosario, most recently Division Chair of TA Surface, was sworn in yesterday as the new VP of TA Surface during an Executive Committee meeting held in Las Vegas during the TWU Constitutional Convention.

Rosario, repeating after TWU Local 100 President John V. Chiarello, swore to “bear true and faithful allegiance to the international and the local union and the cause of all organized labor.”

Rosario, born and raised in Brooklyn, began his career in transit in 1999 as a Bus Operator, driving out of the Fresh Pond Depot for 26 years. He was elected as TA Surface Division First Vice Chair in 2021 and as the Division Chair in 2024. He has also served on the Executive Board since last year.

“I am humbled to serve as Vice President, but I will always be a Bus Operator at heart. For close to 27 years, I have proudly worked behind the wheel, with 23 of those years spent mastering my tools and serving the riding public,” said Rosario.

“No promotion or title will ever change who I am or the work ethic I bring. I will always fight and work hard for our members, no matter how big or small my role may be. My heart has always been, and will continue to be, in service to the membership.”
