Gleason Depot in Mourning as Heart Attack Claims Sean Hurley, 30
Brooklyn residents applaud Gleason Depot Bus Operator Sean Hurley during the first wave of the pandemic. Brother Hurley, 30, suffered a heart attack this morning (Friday, August 6) at about 3AM at the Depot. Sheila Brunn administered CPR but he was unresponsive. Sean was a second generation transit worker, after his father, and had been an Operator since 2018. Depot Chair Jennine Gregory said the Depot is reeling from the second death of an Operator inside a week.
"He was a great guy, wonderful to work with. His smile would light up the room," she said. "His favorite line was the B61. He lived along that line in Prospect Park West. He just got his first apartment last week, and his Mom lived nearby who would always cook him dinner. I used to tell him, 'You can't take the bus home to eat.'
Brother Hurley was not married and had no children. Arrangements will be announced.
