Jack Higgins, Retired MaBSTOA Vice President, Passes
TWU Local 100 sadly announces the passing of union stalwart Jack Higgins, retired Vice President, MaBSTOA Division 2, on April 3, 2013. He was 83. Brother Higgins retired in 1996 after an exceptional career of service to the Local 100 membership as Depot Chair, Division officer, Staff Organizer and Vice President. He was a Bus Operator out of the West Farms Depot, and had served there as Depot Chair for many years.
Born in County Cavan, Ireland, he had resided for many years in New City, NY. Jack’s son, John Higgins, is Chief Maintenance Officer at Zerega CMF in the Bronx.
The Viewing will take place on Sunday, April 7, 2013, from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the Michael J. Higgins Funeral Home on 321 South Main Street in New City, New York. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, April 8, 2013 at St. Augustine’s Church at 140 Maple Avenue in New City, New York.
