Members in school bus stand by Local 100 so Local 100 can stand by them

Local 100 members at Baumann Ossining have stood firm and delivered an important victory to Local 100. An unaffiliated "union" attempted to raid the property, telling members that they would get pie-in-the-sky if only they dropped TWU and signed up with this outfit instead. But members at Baumann didn't fall for it. By a 73-38 margin they voted to stick with Local 100.

The school bus industry is divided among many small companies, a lot of them with no union. There are no industry-wide standards for wages and benefits. Employees at each company are on their own. This makes it important to have a union. But it also makes every little fight for improvement slow-going and frustrating. This non-union (at Baumann calling itself USWU Local 355) tried to play to that frustration, but members at Baumann Ossining saw through the lies.

Now we will be able to focus on securing some real progress at Baumann instead of empty words.
