MOW Mourns Light Maintainer Anthony Lupo, 69

Union Brothers and Sisters in the Line Equipment/Signals Division of Maintenance of Way are mourning the death of their colleague, Anthony Lupo, on Friday, June 3rd, of a heart attack.

His neice, Jennifer, recalled that her uncle had a regular routine: "Every Friday he's off, and he takes my daughter, Charlotte, to school and then picks her up at the end of the day. Then they go to McDonald's. When he didn't show up, I knew something wasn't right." She went to his home in Mill Basin, Brooklyn, and found him deceased.

Rosario Parlanti, Division Vice Chair, remembered Brother Lupo as "a quiet, hard-working guy who kept to himself." He had eight years with NYCT, working out of 33 Wiliams Place in the AFC unit.

"He loved working for the MTA, he loved everything about the job," his neice said. "He loved his jerk chicken. He loved going to the different neighborhoods. He loved his co-workers, absolutely. He liked being busy. He liked being an electrician. He was never a sit-in-one-place kind of person. He had to keep moving."

Brother Lupo was a widower with no children. He leaves his two neices, Jennifer, Justine, and his nephew, Salvatore.

There will be a viewing for Brother Lupo at Cusumano and Russo, at 2005 West 6th street in Brooklyn NY 11223 this Friday, June 10th, from 2PM to 5PM and from 7PM to 9PM.

A Funeral Mass will take place at the St. Bernard of Clarivaux Parish Church at 2055 East 69th Street, Brooklyn, 11234 on Saturday, June 11th at 10:45 AM.
