MTA Bus Mourns Emilio "Mill" Fontan, 53
JANUARY 29 -- Union members from MTA Bus are mourning the passing of Bus Operator Emilio Fontan, Sr., who was loved by many, both within the Union family and by customers on his bus route. He started his career in transit at Baisley Park Depot in 2007 and then transferred over to LaGuardia. He retired in 2020 with a serious illness.
You can read his extended obituary here. He was remembered as a Bus Operator whose "journey was one of joy, punctuated by the revving engines and the cheerful "ding ding" of the MTA buses he expertly navigated through the streets of New York."
Brother Fontan is survived by his wife Nancy, and his children Emilio Fontan Jr., Yoemil, Ruth, Rosali, Dannileydi, and Juan, along with many other family members. A funeral service will take place at the Leone Funeral Home, at 696 4th Avenue in Brooklyn, on Thursday February 1st, from 3pm to 8pm. All members are encouraged to attend to pay their respects.
