Gleason Depot Chair Whitfield Gibson holds a memorial t-shirt
As Hurricane Irene threatened on Saturday, over 300 mourners came to honor the memory of Bus Operator Eddie Ivey, a victim of gun violence who was killed on August 21 while trying to break up a fight at a party in Wyandanch, hosted by the Highway Bulliez biker club. The funeral at the Holy House of Prayer for All People on Eastern Parkway in Brooklyn drew equal numbers of TWU Local 100 members and bikers, representing some 20 clubs from the five boroughs. A t-shirt memorializing Ivey was produced, along with graphic art in the Church lobby bidding farewell to Eddie "La Mission" Ivey. Members of the club who were celebrating at the party where Ivey was killed said that he took one shot to the head after trying to stop a fight. An NYPD Detective has been assigned to the case but there is yet to be an arrest.
