RTO Mourns Train Operator Bruce Turner, 64
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11 -- Members at Rapid Transit Operations are mourning the passing of Train Operator Bruce Turner, 64, who died on the E line while on his way to work at Parsons Archer early yesterday. He was a longtime Train Operator on the E Line. A CTA found Brother Turner collapsed in the car and summoned aid. He was transported to Queens General Hospital but could not be revived.
RTO VP Canella Gomez expressed his condolences to Brother Turner's family on behalf of the Union.
Arrangements for Brother Turner can be found here.
Brother Turner had more than nine years of service with NYCT. He lived in Floral Park, Queens. A memorial was organized by Superintendent John Villanueva this morning. The E Train on which Brother Turner was riding was placed in the station at Parsons Archer with the lights out and LAST STOP signs on as a tribute to the fallen Train Operator. From there it ran to 179 and laid up at Jamaica Yard.
We will update this announcement with arrangements when we receive them.
