Services Announced for Bus Operator Bernard Gribbin, Killed in the Line of Duty

NOVEMBER 1 -- The TWU International announced funeral services for SEPTA Bus Operator Bernard Gribbin, 48, who was killed in the line of duty while operating his bus in the Germantown district last Thursday. Police said Zhontay Capers, 21, fired six shots at him for no apparent reason in route. This was the first line of duty death of a SEPTA Bus Operator in recent memory. He was a member of our sister Local 234 in Philadelphia which represents SEPTA employees.

TWU Local 100 President Richard Davis urged all members to attend Brother Gribbin's funeral, which will take place next week. There will be a wake at the Michael J. Grant Funeral Home at 571 Suffolk Avenue in Brentwood, NY 11717 on Sunday, November 5th, from 7PM to 9PM, and on Monday, November 6th, from 2PM to 4PM and from 7PM to 9PM. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, November 7th, at 9:30 AM at St. John of God Church at 84 Carleton Avenue in  Central Islip, NY 11722, with burial to follow.
