TWU, ATU Team Up in Fight for Hazard Pay
The four Staten Island and Queens Locals of the Amalgamated Transit Union have teamed up with Local 100 in the paid media campaign to win hazard pay for transit workers.
Radio spots began airing today on 1010 WINS, featuring the voices of Local 100 President Tony Utano and ATU Local 726 President Daniel Cassella, who is speaking for ATU Local 1056 President Mark Henry, Local 1179 President Jose DeJesus and Local 1181 President Michael Cordiello.
Spots will also be airing on WBLS (FM 107.5) and ESPN (FM 98.7).
The 60-second spots are the second wave of radio commercials demanding hazard pay for transit workers who have been in the eye of the Coronavirus storm for months. The MTA’s position is that the money must come from the Federal government. But, as the spots maintain, the MTA “must stop making excuses . . . Give transit workers hazard pay. They have earned it.”
