JANUARY 3 -- Members of Car Equipment are mourning the death of CTA Anthony Fulton, 61, a Shop Steward at the Flatbush terminal and a union activist. He died at home on December 27, apparently of a massive stroke. He had 38 years of service with New York City Transit.
His father, Robert "Bob" Fulton, was a Vice President of Station Department who then became Recording Secretary of Local 100. Bob Fulton also served as the first Chair of the Equal Rights and Liberties Committee of the TWU International, securing a place in our Union's pantheon of Black History pioneers, and furthering the TWU's historic commitment to civil rights. As Station VP Fulton fought for the bullet proof glass for token booths and for the halon systems to prevent fires from consuming the booth.
Anthony was remembered by CED Vice President Shirley Martin as "a good union person. He was a Shop Steward and when anything happened at Flatbush, he would take care of it." Brother Fulton had been ill before his death. A wake for Brother Fulton will be held on Wednesday, January 10th from 4PM to 9PM at the Guarino Funeral Home at 9222 Flatlands Avenue in Brooklyn. A funeral service will take place the following day, Thursday, January 11th, at 9AM. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Farmingdale, NY.
All members are invited to join the family in paying their respects.
