TWU Local 100's publications over the last year won a number of prestigious awards at the Metro New York Labor Communications Council awards luncheon on Friday, June 15. Taking top honors in the photography competition was our own Dan Tasripin, who snapped the first-prize winning shot of Bus Operator Maria Hogan breaking into tears at the union's press conference after her assault on September 10th. Hogan was punched by a 6-foot passenger angry that she didn't pull over at his "stop" which had been eliminated. The photo shows not only Hogan's pain but the compassion and determination of Kingsbridge Depot Chair Richard Fields. Click on "read more" to see the photo. Local 100 also picked up a number of other awards for articles and website pages, as well as the top award for best news headline, which commented on the departure of former MTA CEO Jay Walder to Hong Kong. The headline was, "Jay Walks."
