The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that it had awarded a contract to excavate the cavern that will house the 86th Street Station of the Second Avenue Subway, and build the station's basic structure. The contract, valued at $301 million, was awarded to a joint venture of Skanska USA and Traylor Bros Inc.
