Update on Management-created Workers Compensation Catastrophe

In a meeting on Thursday, management said they would send a letter to President Chiarello Friday with more information on the issue. With no such letter appearing, President Chiarello blasted management for this unforgivable catastrophe in a letter to Lieber.

Instead of a response from Lieber, a letter was sent from a subordinate on Saturday that provided no more clarity and cited “unexpected processing issues in the transition to Sedgwick”, even going so far as to refer to the company as “expert”.

Of course, these issues were anything but unexpected, and Sedgwick’s performance shows no expertise.

In President Chiarello’s immediate reply Saturday, directed once again to Lieber, he reminded Lieber of a key fact: management was warned about trusting Sedgwick with these crucial payments to injured members.

“I told you that the system Sedgwick was taking over was too complex for a rushed roll-out, but you ignored my warnings. This entire debacle is on your head,” wrote President Chiarello.

Local 100 has filed a Union-wide grievance to redress this matter and is demanding an expedited hearing on the debacle next week.
