JULY 15-- Governor Hochul announced yesterday that the MTA is having a record year for both ridership and performance, and I want to thank you, the members of TWU Local 100, because it’s your hard work and dedication have made that possible.
From the tunnels to the bus lanes, delays are down. Safety is up. Riders are more satisfied.
New York City Transit has served over 106 million people in the first six months of the year alone. That’s record ridership since the pandemic.
Hours after Hochul’s announcement, the subway system was flooded due to a storm, and again, it was you who did the work to navigate the water, reassure passengers, pump the stations dry and get the system back up and running.
That’s the work we do. We go above and beyond. We Move New York. Not the bureaucrats.
It’s not every day that your efforts get this kind of attention, but I want you to know that I appreciate you every day. I know the work you do, and how the city relies on you. I am honored to represent the hardworking men and women of this union.
Thank you,
John V. Chiarello
President, TWU Local 100
