Call Senator Schumer! Ask him to support emergency funding for mass transit NOW!

Make a phone call to help save transit.

In three weeks, millions of city straphangers will be slammed with less service, more overcrowding and longer waits. Already, the MTA is handing out layoff notices to hundreds of our BRothers and Sisters, including station agents, cleaners, maintenance workers and bus operators. Plus a big fare hike is waiting just around the corner. These steps are being taken to close a $750 million budget shortfall in 2010.

New Yorkers are not alone. 84% of public transit systems - in big cities and small towns alike - have cut service, raised fares or both. Without emergency funding from Congress, transit service in New York and across the country will deteriorate.

It's up to us and every New Yorker to ACT NOW!

Please call Senator Schumer and ask him to stand up for city straphangers and transit riders across the country.  Ask the Senator to support emergency funding for transit NOW!

Senator Schumer's DC office is 202-224-6542 and his New York office is 212-486-4430.
