Elections Committee Notice

U.S. Department of Labor, supervised, Car Maintenance Division, and Train Operators Division, Executive Board Member elections.

NOTICE TO ALL LOCAL 100 MEMBERS NOT IN GOOD STANDING

Pursuant to an order signed on December 5, 2013, by Judge Laura Taylor Swain of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, a new election for the positions of Executive Board Member - Car Maintenance Division and Executive Board Member - Train Operators Division of Transport Workers Union Local 100 will be conducted under the supervision of the U.S. Department of Labor.

Some members were not able to vote in the last election because they still owed dues. (This may have been because even though they are now paying dues, they missed paying dues in the 2007-2008 time period, which leaves them currently in "bad standing.") If you are in this situation and you wish to vote in the upcoming election being conducted in April2 014 under the supervision of the U.S. Department of Labor, we would certainly welcome your return to good standing membership. If you can pay the full amount due before March 15, 2014, you will be eligible to receive a ballot when ballots are mailed out to the eligible membership (tentatively on March 20, 2014). If you pay up your owed dues after the ballots are mailed out to the eligible membership, you will be able to request a ballot and vote by contacting Election Committee chair David Francis at (212) 873-6000 extensions 2059, 2061. or 2089, no later than April 7, 2014. You can contact the Dues Office in person or by telephone at (212) 873-6000 to find out what you owe.

Local 100 also has a program where you can pay your back dues over time, basically at the rate of one extra dues payment per pay period, which is less than $30. It is an almost painless way of restoring your ability to fully participate in the union, such as being able to vote in elections, vote on contract ratifications, and receive various union benefits which you can find on our website (www.twulocal100.org). Please speak to your shop steward or union chairman if you wish to participate and fill out the necessary forms.

Please note, however, that participation in the payment plan will not result in you being able to vote in this upcoming supervised election unless you pay your owed dues in full.
