Local 100 Celebrates Annual Quill-Connolly Day

Quill Connolly Day at TWU Local 100 was a resounding success! Photos from the event are now available on our Flickr page for your enjoyment. Through our shared celebration, we strengthened the bonds of community and solidarity that are essential to creating a better and more just world for all workers and their families. Hundreds of members attended the event, which commemorated the reknowned labor leaders, Michael J. Quill and James Connolly. The event was held in honor of St. Patrick's Day and reflected the deep Irish roots of the labor movement. It was a joyous occasion, with traditional Irish folk music played by Mary Courtney, filling the room with its lively and upbeat sounds.

Response by President Richard Davis to the WSJ's editorial attacking RTO A Division Pick.

When the Wall Street Journal attacks me, you know we are doing something right. The issue this week was our arbitration win on the RTO A Division Pick — a decision that protects the livelihoods of our Conductors and Train Operators. 
 
In its March 3 editorial, the Journal says that Local 100 believes that "the idea of workers changing their shift schedules was too much to bear." It quotes me accurately as saying that the new schedules would be "chaotic and problematic."

Members Heard as Contract Policy Committee Refines Demands

MARCH 4 — TWU Local 100's Contract Policy Committee on March 4 evaluated 2400 member responses to our contract survey, conducted last month. One thousand members filled out surveys in person and another 1400 did so online.

The Contract Policy Committee consists of Departmental representatives as well as the Executive Board.

Union Partners with Riders Alliance to Seek $300M Boost to MTA Budget

FEBRUARY 22 -- Standing outside Grand Central Station with a coalition that included the Riders Alliance, Transportation Alternatives, and the Tri-State Transportation Campaign, TWU Local 100 President Richard Davis condemned the MTA's recent move to cut morning service on seven subway lines beginning in June. "We will not stand for service cuts -- and how can we get to a six-minute headway if they're going to cut service?," he said. "How are they going to fix the Second Avenue subway with service cuts? That will never happen."
